The Poggio dei Medici Golf course is only 15 Kms away. Our position at the very doorway of Florence, allows you to enjoy both the city, at only 6 Kms, and a great day of Golf.
Designed by Baldovino Dassù e Alvise Rossi Fioravanti, to USGA standards the course has 18 holes. Opened in 1995 it was immediately recognised by the sector review “Golf World” as the World’s best new course and it has built up a brilliant reputation. It is now considered as one of the most prestigious in Italy.
It has recently been mentioned in "Condè Nast Traveller"’s “Hot List” among the “Best Golf Courses of the World”, overtaking courses such as the K Club in Ireland and the Greenbrier in the USA. The course is normally 6.397m long (5.091m from female Tees) and 6.519m for matches. A further 9 holes are programmed.
Between 1999 and 2003 Poggio dei Medici has hosted the Italian Women’s Open of the European circuit where the winners have been: Samantha Head, UK, 1999; Sophie Gustafson, Sweden, 2000; Paula Marti, Spain, 2001; Iben Tinning, Denmark, 2002; Ludivine Kreutz, France, 2003.
The Course offers multiple possibilities for: practice, a Driving Range and Putting and Pitching Greens. Golf carts and Bags are available for rent.
The Course is open throughout the year. A professional PGA coach is always available for individual golf lessons.
How to get to the golf club:
from Villa le Rondini go up the via Bolognese (ss.65) and follow the signs for SAN PIERO A SIEVE. After San Piero turn left towards the motorways and immediately to your right you will find a sign for the Poggio dei Medici Golf Course – follow the small windy road of about a Km to destination.
